David Richardson
BIOGRAPHY
Dave Richardson is a folk singer/songwriter who has been honing his craft for about 10 years now. Dave grew up in southern Maine; his “small town America” upbringing heavily influences his songs. He enjoyed local success as half of the folk-punk band “Compost Shark,” and started writing and playing folk music when he left home at 18. Dave is a seasoned performer, playing open mike nights and his own gigs in many bars, coffee houses, and open air venues from Colorado to Massachusetts. He assuredly classifies himself as a folk singer, but gets his inspiration from all genres of music. While his songs have the country/bluegrass/folk vibe of Gillian Welch and Dan Bern, mixed with the creatively poetic lyrics of Greg Brown and Dar Williams, he is influenced from everybody from The Pixies to Johnny Cash. Dave’s deep understanding of the human mind and his sharp sense of humor make for both interesting and memorable songs that touch on a wide range of subjects, including love, death, nature and politics; they evoke vivid images of Kansas cornfields, Maine winter woods and Chicago funeral parlours. Dave is a passionate, powerful and poignant musician – give him a listen, you’ll see.
